Spirit Animal Grand Opening at Hotel Zoso Debuts with "Avery Pearson's Comedian Rhapsody" featuring Melissa Villaseñor

Palm Springs, CA - Take Five Entertainment, one of the Coachella Valley’s most prolific live event producers, in partnership with Hotel Zoso and Columbia Hospitality, announces the Grand Opening of Spirit Animal on March 14, 2026. The bold new immersive supper club is located inside Hotel Zoso in downtown Palm Springs, in the former Pretty Faces & Sirocco space.

The debut officially kicks off with Avery Pearson's Comedian Rhapsody featuring SNL alum Melissa Villaseñor and special guest Scout Durwood, Saturday March 14 at 7 PM. The high-energy, one-of-a-kind show is where stand-up and live music collide, blending sharp comedy with original music for an unforgettable night of entertainment. The evening is presented as a full sit-down dinner show experience, introducing audiences to the vibrant live programming Spirit Animal will bring to Hotel Zoso.

Host Avery Pearson(B'way'sTake a Banana for the Ride, Dr. Phil Live, Netflix’s Historical Roast, Hulu’s Iliza’s Locals, the ESPY Awards, and Peacock’s Good Sports) has collaborated with performers including Kevin Hart, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, Tiffany Haddish, MGK, and Jelly Roll. He will be joined by his long-time comedy partner, actor/singer Scout Durwood (The Hook at Caesars Palace, MTV’s Mary + Jane, Youtopia, and the musical comedy special Take One Thing Off).

Headlining the evening is Melissa Villaseñor, who rose to national prominence during her six-season run on Saturday Night Live. Known for her spot-on celebrity impressions and musical comedy, Villaseñor’s mix of stand-up and vocals is perfect for the show’s fast-paced, unpredictable format. The duo previously collaborated on Villaseñor's 2019 album Dreamer.

Avery Pearson's Comedian Rhapsody will continue as a monthly signature comedy series at Spirit Animal, bringing nationally recognized comedians to Palm Springs in an intimate, immersive setting.

A New Entertainment Playground in Palm Springs

Spirit Animal transforms the former Pretty Faces & Sirocco space inside Hotel Zoso into a retro-futuristic supper club where dining, theater, and nightlife collide.

Produced by Take Five Entertainment, the concept blends elevated dining with immersive performance, roaming characters, and headline entertainment in a design-forward environment.

Throughout the evening, performers may appear tableside, burst onto the stage, or emerge unexpectedly from the crowd. Guests might encounter everything from flirty flappers and noir detectives to vampire sommeliers, conspiracy theorists, and the occasional spaghetti-flinging giant rat. No two nights are the same.

Beyond Opening Night, Sprit Animal's programming will include:

The venue’s design features cabaret-style seating, saturated lighting, layered projections, and hidden surprises like a secret rabbit hole guests can crawl through that leads to an unexpected adult ball pit. It’s Palm Springs glamour filtered through a surreal, psychedelic lens.

About Avery Pearson

Avery Pearson is a comedian, actor, and musician whose original comedy music has been featured on Netflix, SNL, Broadway, and award shows like The ESPYs and NFL Honors. He co-wrote and performed for the Emmy-winning Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, and served as music director and performer alongside Keegan-Michael Key at NFL Honors. He’s created comedy music for The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show, and served as Music Director on Historical Roasts with Jeff Ross.

Avery co-wrote and co-directed the song and music video 'Christmas Magic' featuring 60 all-star comics (Howie Mandel, Adam Devine, Richard Lewis) to benefit the charity Comedy Gives Back. His music video 'I'm Not Equipped To Be A Father' with Tiffany Haddish & Chris Redd was front-paged by Funny Or Die. Avery’s appearances include, ‘The Hall’ (Netflix), ‘Bill Burr’s Friends Who Kill’ (Netflix), ‘Masters of Sex’ (Showtime), 'Suits' (USA), ‘LA Complex’ (CW). 

A staple of the live comedy scene, Avery tours his signature show Avery Pearson's Comedian Rhapsody and produces two hit live shows in LA: Comedy Crush at the Hollywood Improv and Keys to the Store at The Comedy Store.

Pearson’s comedy special 'Give It Up, Avery Pearson' is available on Prime Video, and his music can be found on Apple Music. Pearson's solo comedy music album with Pinch Records is set to release Spring 2026.
